Hackers access nuclear watchdog's servers
MANILA, Philippines - A United Nations organization acknowledged on Tuesday, November 27, that hackers had accessed information on one of its former servers and took some of the information on that server.
According to a Reuters report on Yahoo News, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that "some contact details related to experts working" with the IAEA was taken. A hacker group calling itself Parastoo, which appears to be Farsi for the swallow bird, claimed responsibility for the hacking, and the data taken appears to have been made public on a site called Cryptome.
Website The Hacker News adds that an agency spokesperson apologized for the breach, saying, "The IAEA deeply regrets this publication of information stolen from an old server that was shut down some time ago," and promises to fight further breaches in the future. - Rappler.com
