MANILA, Philippines – Nokia announced on Wednesday, December 5, that it would be coming out with a new Lumia smartphone running on the Windows Phone 8 platform.
Banking on a more youthful appeal, the Lumia 620, is positioned at a competitive US$ 249 price point (approx P10,200). Featuring a 3.8″ touchscreen display with a 800×480 pixel screen size, the Lumia 620 comes equipped with a 1.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512 MB of internal memory, a 5.0 megapixel camera, and support for up to 64 GB of MicroSD storage.
The Lumia 620 also gains some personalization features by having exchangeable shells. Using what it calls dual-shot technology, the transluscent shells change the phone’s color depending how you mix and match. For example, if you use a cyan shell on a yellow phone – it will the phone’s color to lime green.
One thing it shares with its Lumia 920 and 820 brethren is the use of the exclusive Cinemagraph lens that “adds simple animations to still photographs, while Smart Shoot creates a single, perfect shot from multiple images, even removing unwanted objects from the picture.”
In terms of battery life, the Lumia 620 also doesn’t disappoint, with their specifications page reporting up to 61 hours of music playback or 9.9 hours of 3G talk time on a full charge.
The Nokia Lumia 620 will be made available in a variety of colors starting January 2013 in Asia, with Europe and the Middle East soon after.
