MANILA, Philippines – Kaspersky Lab announced an agreement to work with International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol, in its efforts to handle cybercrime threats.
Ronald Noble, Interpol’s Secretary General, Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab, and Noboru Nakatani, Interpol Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) Director, met at Kasperky Lab’s headquarters in Moscow to discuss cybercrime and the emergence of threats online, as well as the effort to stop cybercrime from occurring.
“Transnational crime cannot be fought in isolation, and drawing on private sector expertise and support against cybercrime is essential,” Noble was quoted as saying in a press statement. “Fighting cybercrime requires that law enforcement at both the national and international levels works with the private sector, particularly its forward-thinking technological leaders such as Kaspersky Lab, in order to keep pace with today’s cybercriminals.”
As a result, Kaspersky will offer ongoing “broad functional support and threat intelligence” to Interpol and its 190 member countries, including the Philippines. Kaspersky will also be able to train law enforcement around the world when construction of the Global Complex for Innovation is completed in Singapore in 2014. – Rappler.com
