Launched on July 30, Quip calls itself a “modern word processor” that works on various devices.

Aside from the word processing we’re accustomed to, Quip tries to set itself apart by allowing collaborative document work, with documents and messages combined into a thread of updates and all the users involved in the document able to edit the same document regardless of the device they are using.

Quip also boasts of a simple user interface and the ability to make documents interactive, such as turning bulleted lists into checklists or meeting notes into a shared task list among readers of a given document.
