BlackBerry Messenger has stopped its rollout on iOS and Android due to a leak of an unreleased Android version of BBM

LEAKED. When an unreleased version of BlackBerry Messenger for Android went online, BlackBerry stalled its rollout to address the issue. Screen shot from BlackBerry

MANILA, Philippines -Those of you around the world who were looking forward to BlackBerry Messenger’s (BBM) release on iOS and Android over the weekend may be wondering why the app doesn’t seem to be readily available on Google Play and Apple’s App Store. The reason for this? Someone leaked an unreleased version of BBM for Android online.

In an announcement post, Luke Reimer of BlackBerry explained that while BBM got 1.1 million active users within the first 8 hours of launching the iOS app, the unreleased version of the Android app caused some unexplained issues, forcing them to stall the rollout of BBM for both the Android and iPhone until the issues could be resolved.

Those who have already downloaded BBM for iPhone will still be able to use BBM. BlackBerry is asking people to check into the BlackBerry Messenger website to sign up for updates as to when BlackBerry will continue its rollout of the messaging app. – Rappler.com
