MANILA, Philippines – In a series of videos, YouTube has announced the nominees for the YouTube Music Awards, opening voting up to the public as well.

There are 6 awards up for voting:

• Video of the Year
• Artist of the Year
• Response of the Year
• YouTube Phenomenon
• YouTube Breakthrough
• Innovation of the Year

The YouTube Music Awards is the first awards ceremony for the popular video sharing service, which has grown in popularity since being founded in 2005.

YouTube made it possible for artists of all sorts to make their talents known and, in some cases, create celebrities and international acclaim for the best and brightest around the world.

The following video explains the voting process, which allows users to vote by sharing a video ballot for their choice on social media:

Sharing someone else’s vote adds to a given nominee’s count of votes.
