MANILA, Philippines – A German citizen needs help to fly back to his country, according to a concerned Filipino who saw him begging at a station of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT1) along Taft Avenue.

The post has already been shared more than 5,000 times as of Saturday night, July 25.

In a phone interview with Rappler on Saturday, July 25, Danggjang said he  reported the incident to the German Embassy in Manila in June. He also said his family in Germany does not have the means to buy him a plane ticket so he has been begging for help at the LRT station.

Danggjang claimed he is a victim of job fraud in the Philippines. A Filipino allegedly promised him work but “lied to me,” he said.

On June 19, Danggjang posted an appeal on his Facebook account, asking for donations so that he could purchase a return ticket. He said he has been in the Philippines since March 27, 2015.

“Let’s help him, guys, go back to his home country by sharing this post until it reaches (the) German community, and particularly his relatives,” Evangelista said in her Facebook status on Friday, July 24.

In January 2013, a British citizen was also stranded in the Philippines after he ran out of money. He decided to stay at the  Ninoy Aquino International Airport while figuring out how to raise the funds to finance his travel back home to England. – Rappler.com
