MANILA, Philippines – The year 2016 is another deciding point in Philippine history. The country will vote for the next president and other national officials who will set the path the nation will tread in the next 6 years.
In May 2015, Rappler launched #PHVote: The Leader I Want, the theme of our 2016 presidential elections coverage. As we enter yet another crucial point in our country’s history, we in Rappler believe that the youth have major roles to play in choosing the right leaders.
To empower the Filipino youth in choosing the leaders the country deserves, Rappler and its civic engagement arm, MovePH, will hold #PHVoteChallenge: Davao’s #TheLeaderIWant. The event aims to engage the youth and to get their sentiments on issues they want to raise in the upcoming elections.
The event will be held on Friday, October 23, from 1 pm to 5:30 pm at the Philippine Women’s College of Davao (PWC), which has partnered with Rappler for the elections.
