‘We are all Parisians:’ Facebook users one with Paris

MANILA, Philippines – “Nous sommes tous les Parisiens (We are all Parisians),” said Facebook and Twitter users as they reacted to the Paris attacks on Saturday, November 14, 2015 (November 13 in France).

The Paris attacks have left over 128 people dead and 180 injured, pushing French President Francois Hollande to declare a state of emergency.

People continue to express their support on Twitter using the hashtags #PrayforParis and #JesuisParis (I am Paris).

Meanwhile, Facebook has activated a temporary change in profile pictures. Users can click on a button to add a French flag to their profile pictures “to support France and the people of Paris.”

Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg have also changed their pictures to show solidarity with the French people. Jean Julien’s sketch of the Eiffel Tower as the peace symbol has also become a popular profile picture on social media.
