#MoveIloilo: Keeping elections honest

MANILA, Philippines - Rappler's citizen journalism arm, MovePH, brings its "Social Media for Social Change" chat series to Visayas once again in partnership with Central Philippines University (CPU).

Subtitled "ang papel sang estudyante sa ti-on sang eleksiyon" (the student's role in the electoral process), the chat series will bring together students, members of the academe and concerned citizens on March 8, 2013 at the Rose Memorial Auditorium of CPU from 1:00PM to 4:30PM.

The workshop aims to eduate participants on the evolution of journalism and how social media can be used to effect positive change in society. It is open to all universities in Iloilo.

Rappler CEO and executive editor Maria Ressa will deliver the keynote address, "Social Media for Social Change."

Veteran journalist and Rappler's citizen journalism director Chay Hofileña will talk about the role of citizen journalists in elections.

Rappler multimedia journalist Ayee Macaraig will talk about the ups and downs of being a multimedia reporter.

Social media head Michael Josh Villanueva will discuss how social media can be a tool for safeguarding the integrity of elections.

And documentary film maker Patricia Evangelista will share some fascinating stories of ordinary Filipinos.
