But local and international aid agencies are managing the food supply in the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Grandstand, Zamboanga City.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) already tapped local catering groups and food providers to ensure the continuous provision of food for at least 50,000 evacuees inside grandstand.

A total of 16,500 packed meals for lunch and dinner amounting to P825,000 were provided by different food establishments on Sunday, September 15.

This was in addition to the community kitchens established by the local government.

Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman instructed the DSWD Field Office IX to ensure the constant and orderly provision of meals to the evacuees, especially the elderly, children and pregnant women.

Meeting demands

On Monday, September 16, food establishments and the DSWD provided 80,000 packed foods to the evacuees in the Grandstand.

The Zamboanga City Government is currently providing 12,000 packed meals every mealtime. The International Committee of the Red Cross also committed to shoulder 10,000 meals for dinner.

According to the Zamboanga City government, as of 4:00 PM Monday, there are a total of 14,385 displaced families with 72,159 dependents.
