MANILA, Philippines – Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Qatar no longer have to wait in line at the embassy to pick up their renewed passports, which they can now have delivered by mail.
According to a Gulf Times story, the Philippine embassy in Doha, Qatar, signed an agreement with Qatar Postal Services Company (QPost) as the delivery company which will handle the picking up and dropping off of renewed passports to Filipino expatriates’ homes or offices.
“This service will make passport application more convenient for Filipinos in Qatar,” Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Wilfredo Santos told the newspaper.
He said it’s also meant to reduce long lines at the embassy.
The project was initiated by former Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Crescente Relacion, as well as vice-consul Kristine Bautista. The post’s managing director Abdulla Slash al-Hajri signed the agreement with Philippine officials last Monday, August 10. – Rappler.com
