President Aquino’s activities in Brussels, Sept 16

MANILA, Philippines – On Tuesday, September 16, Philippine President Benigno Aquino III is in Brussels, the Belgian city that’s host to an estimated 6,583 Filipinos.

According to Malacañang, Aquino will address the Filipino community in Belgium and Luxembourg at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. There are 436 Filipinos in Luxembourg, while there are 68 registered Filipino community organizations in both Brussels and Luxembourg.

Below is the President’s September 16 schedule, according to the Palace:

10:30 AM (4:30 PM Manila Time)  – The President will meet with European Council President Herman van Rompuy.

11:45 AM (5:45 PM Manila Time)  – The President will meet with Belgium Prime Minister Elio di Rupo.

2:20 PM (8:20 PM Manila Time)  – The President will attend the Conference on Public-Private Partnership Program for Infrastructure Projects in the Republic of the Philippines. The event is jointly organized by the PPP Center, DTI, Embassy of the Philippines in Belgium, the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBRES), and Friends of Europe. The Conference will highlight the role of PPP in the government’s infrastructure development agenda, provide the participants an update on the Philippine economy, including investment opportunities and incentives for foreign investors.

2:50 PM (8:50 PM Manila Time)  – The President will meet with officials of the Royal Dutch Shell PLC. Headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands with a registered office in London, United Kingdom, Royal Dutch Shell PLC is active in oil and gas exploration and production, refining, distribution and marketing, petrochemicals and trading.

3:15 PM (9:15 PM Manila Time)  – The President will meet with officials of HSBC Holdings PLC. Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, HSBC Holdings PLC is a multinational banking and financial services company.

3:40 PM (9:40 PM Manila Time)  – The President will meet with officials of Asia House. Asia House is a non-profit, non-political, pan-Asian organization founded in 1996 in the United Kingdom, which aims to build dynamic links between the diverse communities of Europe and Asia. Its founding stakeholders are HSBC, Prudential and Standard Chartered.

4:15 PM (10:15 PM Manila Time)  – The President will be interviewed by Mr. Konstantinos Tsapogas, Managing Editor of New Europe. New Europe is an independent, weekly published English-language newspaper based in Brussels, Belgium that covers news on the European Union, including country-specific reports of the member states, candidate countries, or possible future candidates.

6:30 PM (12:30 AM September 17, 2014 Manila Time)  – The President will deliver a speech at Egmont – The Royal Institute for International Relations. The Egmont Institute is an independent think-tank based in Brussels, Belgium that undertakes interdisciplinary research on international relations. – Rappler.com
