MANILA, Philippines - Telecommunications firm Globe Telecom and the Cordillera Conservation Trust once again joined forces to help restore the Cordillera region's forests.

Through a race for recreational bikers dubbed the Globe Cordillera Challenge, the two aim to generate funds for seedling nurseries in Cordillera, the watershed cradle of Northern Luzon.

Over 300 hectares of the region's forest reserve are lost yearly to fire, illegal logging and land conversion, based on estimates of the Environment Department.
