Help us crowdsource information on what's needed in typhoon Lando affected communities

MANILA, Philippines – Several provinces were severely affected by Typhoon Lando (International name: Koppu) since it made landfall over Aurora on Sunday morning, October 18.

The typhoon ravaged Central Luzon and the Cordillera regions, affecting nearly 300,000 people. Nueva Ecija alone suffered at least P3.5 billion worth of damaged crops.

Help needed

On Sunday night, October 18, Rappler together with its Agos volunteers and partners began gathering information on floods and mapping requests for rescue and relief from various channels on social media. The information was placed on the Agos map and monitored by the public and disaster responders. (WATCH: Project Agos)

Agos is supported by the Australian Government in partnership with both government and non-goverment institutions, such as the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and e-Bayanihan. (See the full list of Agos Partners)

With the typhoon soon on its way out, operations are expected to shift from rescue and response to providing relief for the thousands of people in the disaster-affected provinces of Quezon, Tarlac, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Cagayan, Benguet, Mt. Province and Ilocos Sur.

In an effort to bridge the gap between those who need help and those who want to help, Rappler is helping gather information on the needs of communities affected by typhoon Lando.

Help us crowdsource information so that donors and organizations providing relief can know what is needed, how much is needed, and where should donations go to.

If you know of places that are in need of relief, you can share with us the information via our Project Agos or Rappler Twitter Accounts. Please include “#ReliefPH” in your tweets.

You may also message us via our MovePH Facebook page or send an email to move.ph@rappler.com.

The easiest way is to fill up the form below:

Agos volunteers will relay the information to the Emergency Response Integration Center (ERIC) Incident Monitor Management System (IMS) of the Office of Civil Defense. We’ll match the needs on the ground with organizations, companies, groups, and individuals who can help with the coordination of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council NDRRMC). This effort will continue until the response and recovery cluster is no longer activated by the NDRRMC.
