Two-year old Juris Bontungay was having fun with her family while watching a circus in their village when the grenade was lobbed and exploded.

She sustained shrapnel wounds in her back and her buttocks.

“The explosion was deafening and deadly. Luckily, no one died. We are very thankful that Juris is alive,” said Juris’ father.

Juris is set for an operation to remove the shrapnel in her back.

As of posting time, only 9 out of the 41 victims are still being treated in the Southern Philippines Medical Center in Davao City.
