MANILA, Philippines – Prince Albert II of Monaco will go on an official visit to the Philippines in the first week of April, Malacañang announced on Wednesday, March 30.

Prince Albert will be in the country from April 6 to 7 upon the invitation of President Benigno Aquino III, Palace Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr said in a statement.

Coloma said the two leaders will have a bilateral meeting in Malacañang on April 7.

“The two leaders and their respective delegations are expected to discuss bilateral issues of common interest such as economic cooperation, humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and environmental protection, among others,” he said.

Aquino will host a luncheon in honor of his guest after the bilateral meeting.

During his trip, Prince Albert, a known advocate of stronger marine environmental protection, will also visit Palawan and the Tubbataha Reefs National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Coloma said.

Prince Albert’s last official visit to the Philippines was in 1999, during the administration of President Joseph Estrada.  – Rappler.com
