MANILA, Philippines – Investigative journalist and Rappler editor-at-large Marites Dañguilan-Vitug continues her probe on the secretive judiciary with her new book, “Hour Before Dawn: The Uncertain Rise and Fall of the Supreme Court.”

The book, which follows her 2010 book “Shadow of Doubt”, was formally launched Friday, September 21, at the Fully Booked bookstore in Bonifacio High Street, Taguig.

The launch was attended by, among others, Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa. ABS-CBN investigative reporter Ces Drilon hosted the event.

“History tells us that modern-day truths and breakthrough exposes were considered heresies and blasphemies in their inception until after they were painstakingly challenged and distilled in the agora of ideas with sacred beliefs,” Carpio-Morales said about the book during her keynote speech.

Vitug later told Rappler that her aim is to drum up support for reform within the Supreme Court, which she hopes will happen during the 18-year term of new Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
