Headless cadaver found in Sulu
It's found two days after the beheading of a Canadian hostage

MANILA, Philippines – Locals found a headless cadaver of a Caucasian on Wednesday, April 27, in a village in Talipao, Sulu, the same province where Abu Sayyaf kidnappers beheaded a Canadian two days ago.

Military sources said the cadaver was seen in a dry creek at 10 am Wednesday in the village of Gata, which is about 10 kilometers away from Talipao town.

Police reached the mountainous area in sitio Tibangaw at 12 noon, guided by councilors Hadji Sahemari and Kibar Pala, and other local officials.

The body will be immediately brought to Zamboanga City for identification, the same sources added.

On Monday, Abu Sayyaf kidnappers beheaded their Canadian captive John Ridsdel, one of 3 foreign hostages abducted on Samal Island in Davao in September 2015. The murder came after ransom talks – initially pegged at P1 billion for each then reduced to P300 million – bogged down.

The military also launched attacks in an attempt to rescue the hostages.

On Tuesday night, the commander of the Army troops in Sulu, Brig Gen Alan Arrojado, resigned. – with reports from Richard Falcatan/Rappler.com
