DAVAO CITY, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte will be dividing his weekdays between Malacañang and Davao City, his son Paolo confirmed. 

“He will spend 3 days in Manila and 3 days in Davao City,” the presidential son and incumbent Davao City Vice Mayor said on Friday, July 1. 

Asked where he will spend the 7th day, the younger Duterte said in jest: “Baka sa simbahan.” (Maybe in church.)

The 71-year-old President earlier said he would shuttle between Manila and Davao daily when he assumes the post. But his executive aide Bong Go told reporters on Wednesday, June 29, that Duterte would “definitely” hold office in Malacañang because it is the seat of power. 

Go also said Duterte can hold office at “Panacañang” any time, especially when dealing with Mindanao affairs. He was referring to the “Malacañang of the South” in the district of Panacan in Davao City.  – Rappler.com
