MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – A Philippine Airlines flight form Manila to Tokyo made an emergency landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday, Septemebr 26, due to a “technical concern.”

PAL flight PR 422, which departed NAIA Terminal 2 at 9:32 am bound for Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, turned back and landed at the NAIA.

PAL, in a statement, said that a “technical concern” caused the plane to make an emergency landing, turning back to NAIA at around 9:52 am.

The aircraft, an A340-300, was carrying 222 passengers and 13 crew members, the airline said.

“The plane is undergoing an operational assessment to determine the technical concerns that led to its return to airport,” PAL said.
