7 alleged ‘narco-cops’ in Negros Occidental sacked
The order comes from the Philippine National Police headquarters at Camp Crame and is approved by PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Seven police officers in Negros Occidental who were allegedly tagged as drug protectors were transferred to some areas in Luzon and Mindanao after they were relieved from their posts.

Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, public information officer of Police Regional Office-18, said the order, made effective on October 26, came from the Philippine National Police headquarters at Camp Crame.

Their relief from duty was upon the recommendation of Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, PRO-18 director, and was approved by PNP Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa.

The said police officers were consistently mentioned in several drug lists released to the local media several weeks ago, which was the basis for their relief, Catedral said.

The following were relieved from their posts:

  • Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, head of police community relations of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), who will be transferred to PRO-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula)
  • Superintendent Rosauro Francisco of NOCPPO to PRO-9 (Zamboanga Peninsula)
  • Superintendent Leonardo Angcon of NOCPPO to PRO-Cordillera
  • Superintendent Lino Dalisay of NOCPPO to PRO-Cordillera
  • Superintendent Jacob Crisostomo, chief of San Carlos City Police Station, to PRO-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)
  • Chief Inspector Joemarie Occeño, chief of Valladolid Municipal Police Station, to PRO-ARMM
  • Chief Inspector Rico Santotome of NOCPPO to PRO-ARMM

Crisostomo said that he will follow the order of his next assignment, however, he questioned the basis of the report as his name wasn’t mentioned in any drug matrix released to the media.

He stressed that he has no involvement in any illegal drug trade, adding that he is very much willing to undergo a lifestyle check and investigation to prove his innocence.

Other officials have yet to comment on the order. – Rappler.com
