Schedule of protests vs Marcos burial: November 18

MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – Following the unannounced burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Heroes’ Cemetery at noon Friday, November 18, protest rallies have been immediately scheduled by groups and sectors opposed to the late dictator. 

Some rally organizers have issued a call for other protesting groups to converge at 3 pm at the Edsa Shrine at the corner of Ortigas Avenue and Edsa in Quezon City. This was the venue of the main People Power rally that led to the ouster of Marcos in February 1986.

Unless a specific time is indicated, the following anti-Marcos mobilizations are ongoing as of posting: 

 

MANILA

• Along Ayala Boulevard and San Marcelino Street – students from Technological University of the Philippines, Adamson University, and Philippine Normal University
• Along Taft Avenue, near Padre Faura Street and UN Avenue – students and teachers from Manila Science High School, Araullo High School, University of the Philippines-Manila
• In front of Philippine General Hospital, Taft Avenue – health workers led by the Health Alliance for Democracy
• Along Taft Avenue, near Estrada Street – students and teachers from College of St. Benilde and De La Salle University
• Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard corner Old Sta. Mesa Street – students and teachers from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, health workers from University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center
• Along Morayta – students from nearby universities and community-based organizations of Bayan Muna
• Luneta Park – vendors from Kadamay Metro Manila
• Along Taft Avenue, near Pedro Gil St. and outside the Iglesia Filipino Independiente (IFI) Cathedral – workers from Kilusang Mayo Uno
