P1M reward up for leads on BIR official’s murder
The reward money is offered by the same private individual who is giving P1 million for leads on Customs Deputy Commissioner Arturo Lachica's murder

MANILA, Philippines – A P1-million cash reward has been put up for information that will lead to the arrest of people behind the murder of Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Regional Director Jonas Amora, the Department of Finance (DOF) said Monday, November 21.

The reward is being offered by the same private individual who has offered another P1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of the killers of Customs Deputy Commissioner Arturo Lachica on November 17.

“The private individual who earlier offered the P1 million for information on Lachica’s murder has now upped the reward. It is now P1 million each for information leading to the arrests of the persons responsible for the murders of Deputy Commissioner Lachica and Regional Director Amora,” the DOF said.

The DOF did not identify the source of the cash reward and said the identity of the would-be informants would also remain strictly confidential.

Those who have any information relevant to the murders of Lachica or Amora can call either DOF head executive assistant Marc Gregory Crisostomo at 523-9215 or technical assistant Alddon Christner Ang at 523-9219.

Amora, who was the BIR’s regional director of Revenue Region 8-Makati City, was killed early Monday morning along Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, by unknown assailants onboard a motorcyle.

The motive for the killing is still unknown, the BIR said.

Amora, a certified public accountant, rose from the ranks in the bureau, starting his stint as a revenue examiner, and later as regional director in Quezon City, where the BIR said he had consistently delivered topnotch performance.

The murder of Amora follows the gunning down of Lachica in similar circumstances last Thursday on España Boulevard in Manila.

Following the twin murders in a short span of time, the DOF said it is now “in contact with the highest levels of the Philippine National Police to arrest the perpetrators of both murders.” – Rappler.com
