9 cops found drug-positive recommended for dismissal

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Internal Affairs Service (IAS) recommended the dismissal of 9 officers after they tested positive for drug use. 

In a press statement on Sunday, November 27, the IAS filed administrative cases against the officers listed below, finding them guilty:

• Police Officer 1 Rahib R. Mapambocol
• Police Officer 2 Jesus F. Plazo Jr
• Special Police Officer 1 Jay T. Tizon
• Police Officer 3 Joel C. Bolivar
• PO1 Archelaus Hunshell DR Olivares
• PO1 Edgar H. Sarmiento 
• SPO1 Robert T. Pellarada
• PO2 Emmanuel B. Mari
• PO1 Ronald D. Alcasabas

The IAS is also finalizing proceedings against an additional 40 police officers. (READ: Why Dela Rosa can’t dismiss narco cops right away)

The 40 officers tested positive for illegal drug use, and the IAS is also recommending their outright dismissal from the police force.

Lessen the headaches

In a November 28 interview, PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa said his signature is all that’s needed for the dismissal of the 9 officers to be completed.

“Dismiss namin lahat ng positive sa drug test. Didismiss namin ngayon. Ngayon pag-akyat ko, pagkuha ko ng papeles, pirmahan ko para mabawasan yung sakit ng ulo sa atin,”  dela Rosa said. 

(We’ll dismiss those who are positive in the drug test. We’ll dismiss them now. When I get up (to my office), when I get the papers, I’ll sign them so some of my headaches will be lessened.)

Dela Rosa added that it may very well become his personal mission to bar drug-using police officers from the force permanently, as there appear to be more than just 49 people 

“Once mapirmahan ko yun, bye-bye na kayong 174 at huwag na kayo mag attempt na magpareinstate dahil haharangin ko yung reinstatement ninyo… Hindi na kayo mapapareinstate habang buhay ako. Hahanapan ko ng paraan na harangin ko kayo. Sabihin nyo personal na ito. Pepersonalin ko kayo,” he continued.
