Baguio student, stabbed 40 times, is buried

MANILA, Philippines – Friends and family members buried on Friday, December 16, the high school student in Baguio City who died from multiple stab wounds inflicted by holduppers.

16-year-old Kenneth Velasco died following an attack on December 13 by an unidentified assailant or group along Labsan Street in Baguio City.

Monina Pascua Fernandez, an owner of a nearby store, said a man wearing dark jacket, black pants, and a backpack passed by, even glancing at her before heading toward the barangay hall. After this, her sister-in-law called for her as Velasco was found bleeding on the ground.

Barangay officials called the authorities for assistance, and personnel from the Emergency Management System of Baguio City responded. They brought Velasco to the Baguio General Hospital, but he was prounounced dead on arrival by an attending physician.

Velasco sustained around 40 stab wounds.

The case is currently under investigation, with walk-throughs of nearby areas and CCTV footage taken for the investigation’s use. – Rappler.com
