CAGAYAN, Philippines –  Victims of Super Typhoon Lawin (Haima) got some much-needed holiday cheer as various groups delivered relief to the province aid a week before Christmas.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) representative arrived in Cagayan on Tuesday, December 13, to personally extend Taiwan’s assistance to the Lawin victims.

The Cagayan provincial information office said in a press statement that Governor Manuel Mamba received from Ambassaador Gary Song-Huann Lin a donation of P5 million and rice assistance to 2,000 families.

Mamba said families from the towns of Peñablanca, Amulung, Iguig, and Solana will each receive 20 kilos of rice.

On Thursday, December 15, Nestlé Philippines, Incorporated donated over P10 million worth of goods and products to typhoon victims in Cagayan.

Mamba said the goods will be sent to the relief operations center for repacking and distribution to affected families.

Cagayan was among the hardest-hit provinces when Lawin struck the country in October.

As of December 13, the provincial government has received P19 million in cash donations, according to provincial information officer Rogie Sending.

The latest donor was the city government of Mandaue in Cebu province, he added.
