DAVAO CITY, Philippines - At least 8 people were hurt in a grenade blast in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday morning, November 21.

In an interview in a local radio station, police authorities said the grenade exploded outside the Golden Sun Finance Corp along Lapasan national highway. It is near the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police.

The MK2 grenade came in the form of a booby trap at the door of the finance corporation, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) said.

Local authorities said there is no evidence that the incident is connected to terrorist organizations. They said it is clear that the primary target was the lending firm.

Six of the injured victims, including two of employees of the lending corporation, were brought to the Capitol University Medical City. The other 2 were brought to the provincial hospital.

A police officer and a retired cop were hurt in the blast. - Rappler.com
