MANILA, Philippines - Members of the House of Representatives paid their last respects to their late colleague, Bohol 2nd District Rep Erico Aumentado, Thursday, December 27, in a necrological service held at Batasan's plenary hall in Quezon City.

“Public service was not only a calling to him but his passion,” said Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., who was Aumentado's colleague way back in the 9th Congress.

Aumentado died on Christmas Day due to complications from pneumonia. He was 72.

Occidental Mindoro Rep Amelita Villarosa, Aumentando's fellow Minority bloc member, said Aumentando will be remembered best for his legacy in transforming Bohol into what it is now.

Aumentado served his constituents "so humbly yet so honorably," said Cebu Rep Eduardo Gullas. “Your monument need not be erected in marble for it is enshrined in the heart of each and every Boholano,” he said.

Before being elected to the 15th Congress, Aumentado served as governor of Bohol. As governor, he led key development projects in the province that helped reduce insurgency and crime. He was also a member of the 9th, 10th and 11th Congress.

Other lawmakers also remembered their late colleague via Twitter:
