Attempted suicide disrupts MRT services

MANILA, Philippines - It's the third day of the new year. And a woman attempted to kill herself at the Metro Rail Transit's (MRT) Shaw Boulevard station in Mandaluyong, disrupting train services shortly before noon.

The still unidentified woman suddenly jumped into the train tracks just as the train was arriving at the southbound lane of the MRT at around 11:15 am, according to MRT General Manager Al Vitangcol III.

The woman survived but her feet were pinned by the train. A medical
team from the MRT was extracting the woman from the tracks as of posting.

As of posting, too, the MRT's southbound operation is from North Avenue up to Shaw Boulevard station only. Train operations along the northbound route are not interrupted. - Rappler.com
