MANILA, Philippines - After refusing to leave the Capitol for a month following her suspension, Cebu Gov Gwen Garcia left the seat of the provincial government to keep her promise of dancing in the Sinulog Festival on Sunday, January 20.

The ABS-CBN News Channel reported that Garcia left to participate in Sinulog after being holed up in the Capitol since her suspension in December 2012.

Garcia was accompanied by her brother Byron, son Paolo, daughter Cristina and son-in-law Duke.

Garcia was meted with a 6-month suspension by the Office of the President after she was found guilty of using the provincial government's budget for allegedly anomalous contracts.

She however refused to leave the Capitol and has sought a temporary restraining order from the Court of Appeals to stop the government from enforcing the suspension order against her.

Acting Gov Agnes Magpale said that they won't bar Garcia from returning to the Capitol after she dances in Sinulog. - Rappler.com
