Manila Water proceeds with water service interruption

MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – Manila Water announced Tuesday, August 14, it will proceed with its planned 14-hour water service interruption, closing the taps in 33 barangays (villages) in Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig and Quezon City beginning Thursday evening, August 16.

In an email to media agencies, Jeric Sevilla Jr, head of Manila Water’s corporate communications said, Metro Manila’s east zone water provider “will proceed with its pipelaying and interconnection activity along EDSA Southbound service road near corner Shaw Blvd. (in Mandalyuong) “

This means there will be a “temporary water service interruption affecting around the 466,000 population in 93,237 households, commercial and business establishments” starting Thursday, 7 pm until 9 am, Friday, August 17.

 Affected barangays are:

MANDALUYONG: Wack-Wack, Mauway, Addition Hills, Highway Hills, Malamig, Buwayang Bato, Barangka Ilaya, Barangka Itaas, Barangka Ibaba, Barangka Drive, Plainview,, Pleasant Hills, Hulo.

QUEZON CITY: Kaunlaran, Bagong Lipunan, Horseshoe, Valencia, Immaculate Conception, San Martin de Porres, Ugong Norte, Pinagkaisahan.

PASIG: Ugong, Oranbo, Pineda, Bagong Ilog, Kapitolyo, San Antonio.

SAN JUAN: Greenhills, Addition Hills, Little Baguio, Pasadena, Corazon De Jesus, West Crame.

Traffic has also been affected around the work site, said Manila Water.

The rightmost southbound lane of the EDSA service road has been closed to traffic since last week. Vehicles turning right to Shaw Boulevard from EDSA must pass through Star Mall.

Sta. Mesa-bound vehicles passing along Shaw Blvd. crossing EDSA must take the middle lane as the rightmost lane will be closed to traffic during the activity, from 11pm Thursday to 4 am Friday.
