3 soldiers killed in NPA attack in Albay
MANILA, Philippines - Three soldiers were killed in a New People's Army (NPA) attack in Albay on Monday, May 20.
Nine soldiers were on patrol in Sitio Sta Lucia in Barangay Maninila, Camalig town at around 830 am when landmines exploded, followed by an ambush by the rebels, said Ltc Andrew Costelo, commanding officer of the 2nd Infantry Battalion based in the area.
Costelo said the Army lost one K3 squad automatic weapon and 2 M16 rifles in the ambush.
The area is near the Bicol International Airport, which is under construction. - Rappler.com
