MANILA, Philippines – Miss World 2013 Megan Young on Monday, October 14, paid courtesy calls to the President and lawmakers, as she began wrapping up her homecoming visit after winning the crown.

President Benigno Aquino III received Young, the first Filipina to win the Miss World crown, while the Senate and the House of Representatives presented her with resolutions commending her for bringing honor to the country.

The beauty queen arrived in the country evening of October 10 for a homecoming visit. She will be based in London during her one-year reign.

Wearing a Filipiniana gown along with her Miss World crown and sash, Young was welcomed by President Aquino at the reception hall of the Malacañang Palace.

At the House of Representatives, Young received the Congressional Medal of Distinction, through House Resolution 368, for being the first Filipina to be crowned Miss World.

Young bested 126 contestants from other countries, and also placed in some of the pre-pageant challenges.

House Resolution 368 was introduced by Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr, Majority Floor Leader Neptali Gonzales II, and Minority Floor Leader Ronaldo Zamora.

In the Senate, Young was presented a copy of Senate Resolution 272 congratulating her for her victory in the Miss World competition on September 28 in Indonesia.
