MANILA, Philippines – Want to avoid the long lines during school registration?

Saturday, January 25, is early registration day for public elementary and secondary schools in the Philippines.

Education Secretary Armin Luistro earlier said the early registration is being held to “prevent logistical problems” come June. “If our school heads know how many students they will have ahead of time, they can better prepare classrooms and seats and learning materials,” said Luistro.

The early registration, according to the education department, is targeted towards children who are just about to enter the public school system: 5-year-olds entering kindergarten and 6-year-olds about to enter Grade 1.

Out-of-school children and out-of-school youth are also main targets of the early registration system. They can register early for the alternative delivery mode or the alternative learning system.

Local officials were earlier encouraged to help in the early registration. – Rappler.com
