GMA-7 announces new post for Howie Severino
The prizewinning journalist is now Vice President for Professional Development, leaving his post as Vice President for Multimedia Journalism and editor in chief of GMA News Online

MANILA, Philippines – Prizewinning journalist Howie Severino is GMA-7’s new Vice President for Professional Development, according to a report on the network’s news web site

He is leaving his post as Vice President for Multimedia Journalism and editor in chief of GMA News Online

“It’s been an exhilarating time to be a journalist, with so many new tools at your disposal,” the report quoted Severino as saying about his previous tasks.

“But the timeless basics are still more important than any technology: writing, interviewing, thinking, fairness, and integrity,” he said.

In his new role, “Severino will develop programs for training and career development for GMA’s growing news and public affairs staff, as well as manage efforts to refine the network’s editorial and ethics standards,” the report read.

The shift will also allow Severino to devote more time to his TV programs I-Witness on GMA-7 and News To Go on sister network GMA News TV Channel 11.
