Glitch, again: MRT3 goes on provisional operations
(UPDATED) The same day transportation officials are in a Senate hearing on MRT3 glitches, the train line goes on provisional operations before rush hour Monday, September 1

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The same day transportation officials were grilled by senators over persistent problem with the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT3), the line went on provisional operations shortly before the afternoon rush hour.

On Monday, September 1, the train line only operated from Shaw Boulevard station in Mandaluyong City to Taft Avenue station in Pasay City. The announcement was made a little before 5 pm.

Operations were restored by 5:50 pm, MRT3 spokesman Hernan Cabrera said in a tweet.

In an earlier phone interview with Rappler, Cabrera said trains were required to stop at the nearest station because they were calibrating the signaling system.

Cabrera earlier said the calibration would not take long, but it was unclear if the shift to provisional operations was related to the calibration. – Rappler.com
