Korean businessman kidnapped in Zamboanga Sibugay
Initial reports indicate 4 armed men kidnapped a Korean businessman on Thursday, September 11, in Kabasalan town

MANILA, Philippines – A Korean businessman was kidnapped in Zamboanga Sibugay on Thursday, September 11, authorities said.

Initial reports indicated that 4 armed men kidnapped businessman Li Pei Zhei at around 6:25 pm on Thursday in Kabasalan town.

Members of the municipal police station, the Philippine Public Safety College, and the Armed Forces are still in “hot pursuit” of the suspects as of posting.

The kidnapping happens just a week after the Korean Embassy thanked the Philippine National Police for the arrest of 4 suspects in the kidnapping of Korean student in March.

The United Korean Community Association in the Philippines is also raising funds to help the PNP investigate crimes committed against Korean nationals in the country.

“The fund will be the source of incentives to be given for the speedy resolution of cases, as well as for publication of a bulletin that will inform Koreans on safety measures and self-defense techniques,” the Korean embassy said in a statement. – Rappler.com
