Laude fiance Sueselbeck to leave PH on November 1
The Philippine military, which has decided not to file criminal charges against Marc Sueselbeck for assaulting a Filipino soldier, calls this is a 'win-win' situation

MANILA, Philippines – Marc Sueselbeck, the fiancé of slain transgender Filipino Jennifer Laude, will leave the country on November 1, All Saint’s Day – his final day in the Philippines following a government order to deport him and bar his re-entry.

Sueselbeck will speak to the media at 2 pm on Saturday before his flight back to Germany, according to lawyer Harry Roque, counsel of the Laude family in the case against US Private First Class Joseph Scott Pemberton.

Sueselbeck was declared an “undesirable alien” because of his actions inside Camp Aguinaldo on October 22. He entered a military camp without prior authorization in his failed attempt to get near Pemberton’s detention facility, and was caught on video forcefully shoving a Filipino soldier who tried to stop him.

Sueselbeck was scheduled to return to Germany a few days later, October 27, but he was barred from leaving the country inspite of his apology, as the Armed Forces wanted him declared as an “undesirable alien” due to the October 22 incident.

He opted for a voluntary deportation, which was granted by the Bureau of Immigration, and has been placed on the Philippine blacklist.

The order states that Sueselbeck, in filing a motion for voluntary deportation, is “deemed to admit the charges against him, agrees to have his name placed in the Black List and be barred from re-entering the country, and undertakes to secure his outbound ticket.”

‘Win-win’

Military spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc said this is a “win-win situation.”

“What he did was very wrong. But he apologized and he appealed to us because he might lose his job if he’s held here indefintely. The Chief of Staff understood his situation so he granted him humanitarian considerations. We won’t file a criminal case against him anymore,” Cabunoc added.

Sueselbeck was scheduled to leave the country last week, October 26, but he was barred from leaving because of the complaint filed by the military.

The military is still studying its options against Jennifer’s sister Marilou and lawyer Harry Roque.

Marilou also climbed the military fence with Sueselbeck, while Roque is accused of instigating the actions of the two.

Cabunoc said the miltary is “strongly considering” a disbarment case against Roque. (READ: Lawyer Harry Roque to blame for actions of Laude sister, fiancé?)
