Family, friends mark 10th death anniversary of FPJ
Poe's family: 'We are truly grateful for the undying and undiminished love and support given to FPJ through these years.'

MANILA, Philippines – The family and friends of the late Fernando Poe Jr gathered at the Manila North Cemetery on Sunday, December 14, to mark the 10th death anniversary of the popular Filipino actor.

Poe’s widow, Susan Roces, and daughter Senator Grace Poe led the commemoration rites at the Manila North Cemetery, where they lit candles and offered flowers at the actor’s tomb.

Born Ronald Allan Kelley Poe, but known to fans as Fernando Poe Jr or FPJ, he is best remembered for his long career as an action movie star. Hailed as the “King of Philippine Movies,” he won several awards during his career.

He also ran for president in the 2004 elections, but lost to Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the results of which had been hotly contested.

In a statement, Poe said: “We are truly grateful for the undying and undiminished love and support given to FPJ through these years.”

“As we mark a decade since his passing, we remain in awe of the enormous respect and remembrance by our people of FPJ and his works. Our family conveys our deepest thanks to every Filipino home that has allowed FPJ’s memories to live through,” she added. – Rappler.com
