SC suspends court guard for ‘soliciting’ from Napoles lawyer
Ronald Allan Gole Cruz allegedly obtained P20,000 from the lawyer of Janet Lim Napoles after soliciting for a supposed Christmas party of the Sandiganbayan's security personnel

MANILA, Philippines – Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has ordered the preventive suspension of a Sandiganbayan security guard who had allegedly solicited money from the lawyer of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles

In a resolution, the High Court said it placed Ronald Allan Gole Cruz under preventive suspension considering the “gravity of the imputed wrongdoing.”

The court said the sworn information report filed by two of Cruz’s fellow security guards on December 3 “appears to be sufficient in form and substance.”

In their sworn report to Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, Darwin Trinidad and Rodelio Lalongisip  accused Cruz of soliciting from the lawyer of Napoles, Stephen David, supposedly for a Christmas party of the anti-graft court’s security personnel.

Cruz allegedly asked a cameraman to deliver the letter to David in one of the toilets of the Sandiganbayan.

The two guards said Cruz allegedly received P20,000 ($447*) from David after the hearing of Senator Jinggoy Estrada on December 2, 2014. Trinidad and Lalongisip denied the security force was planning a Christmas party for 2014.

Cruz, who was transferred to night shift shortly after the letter was sent to Cabotaje-Tang, faces termination and forfeiture of his retirement benefits if found guilty.  Rappler.com
