'She released the Morong 43 then she filed cases against the generals who captured the Morong 43. What can you expect from that?'

ANAD partylist Rep. Pastor Alcover

MANILA, Philippines – Anti-Communist partylist Rep Pastor Alcover Jr supports fugivite general Jovito Palparan, who was charged with the abduction of two University of the Philippines students.

Alcover of the Alliance for Nationalism and Democracy (ANAD) partylist group said it’s better for Palparan to stay in hiding because he will not get a fair trial under Justice Secretary Leila De Lima.

I advise him kung puwede kuwan muna… hindi maganda ang sitwasyon…continue his plano. Sabi nga ni [former President] Estrada noon e, weather-weather lang to e. Panahon-panahon lang,” Alcover told reporters on Wedneday, July 4. (I advise him, if it’s possible, because the situation is not ideal, to continue his plan. As former President Estrada said before, it’s seasonal.)

“With De Lima there, I don’t think we can expect a fair trial. She released the Morong 43 then she filed cases against the generals who captured the Morong 43. What can you expect from that?” Alcover added.

Palparan and Alcover, both anti-communists, were together in the House of Representatives during the 14th Congress. Both actively used the plenary to attack and debate with Leftist solons. Alcover won another seat in the current 15th Congress. Palparan followed the move of former Bayan Muna Rep Satur Ocampo in running for the Senate in 2010 but both of them lost.

“Definitely, I’m supporting him (Palparan). We share the same advocacy. We want peace and order that is based on principle, not peace and order na binebenta mo sa kalaban mo ang prinsipyo mo (not peace and order derived from selling one’s principles). And that is why this government para sa akin, palpak (And this is why government, for me, is a failure),” he told reporters.

Alcover said it is the “communists” in government who are after Palparan.

“This government is being influenced by the communists,” he said. He named political adviser Ronaldo Llamas and National Anti-Poverty Commission chief Joel Rocamora as being among them.

Sought for comment, Llamas said: “I am honored to be attacked by a selfavowed rightist and fan of Gen. Palparan. I would rather be on his opposite side any day. He might need more education on the Philippine spectrum though. I am flattered that he complimented me and Secretary Rocamora about our smiles. I am smiling at him right now,” he said.

Alcover also claims the military and the police also support Palparan.

“The military and the police, I think, are sympathetic to Palparan because Palparan was doing good for the peace and order campaign. Ano ang kasalanan ni Palparan? He was just a doing his job. I think sa lahat ng mga generals na nakita ko si Palparan lang yung talagang hands-on na general. He is not arm chair na general,” he said. – Rappler.com
