Multiple collision, accidents in Pasig and EDSA stall traffic
A multiple collision in Pasig City, which reportedly killed one person, and 3 other incidents along EDSA cause heavy traffic early Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines – Heavy traffic greeted motorists on Tuesday, February 24, following at least 4 separate vehicular incidents in Pasig City and along the main thoroughfare EDSA.

Five vehicles, including a loaded trailer truck, a motorcycle, and a Toyota sedan, figured in a multiple collision in Pasig City at around 4:30 am, according to Pasig City traffic and parking management desk officer Mary Rose Escobar.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the trailer truck lost control and hit the center island on Ortigas Avenue Extension, near the corner of Lanuza Street.

According to initial reports, at least one person was killed and two others were injured in the collision.

The truck had been towed, and the area cleared as of 11:18 am, Escobar said.

The accident, however, has affected traffic along EDSA.

The MMDA said it recorded another vehicular accident involving a car and a taxi along the southbound side of EDSA Shaw Boulevard around 7:44 am.

As of posting, two other incidents have not yet been cleared: a 10:14 am incident involving a stalled truck along EDSA Magallanes southbound, and an 11:17 am vehicular accident involving a delivery van and a bus along the southbound side of EDSA Farmers’ Market. – Rappler.com
