Sales at bazaar of Negros products hit P7M
This year's Panaad sa Negros Festival, which highlights the best of Negros Occidental, is marked by higher sales and bigger crowds

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Sales of Negros products at the weeklong 22nd Panaad Sa Negros Festival exceeded expectations, reaching P7,246,033 or 30% more than last year’s total sales of P5,637,629.20.

“It was very successful and is beyond our expectation,” said Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.

Marañon said that of the total revenues, P3,836,145 came from sales in the pavilions of 32 local government units, followed by P1.5 million from the garden show, P1,044,205 from livestock and dairy, and P865,680 from the organic village.

Among LGUs, San Carlos City was the top grosser with  P1,312,050 in sales followed by Cadiz City with P718,579, and Calatrava with P614,727.

Each pavillion featured products the cities and towns are known for, including furniture, home accessories, and food items.

Marañon said there are more exhibitors at this year’s festival held in Panaad Park in Barangay Mansilingan. He said that there are 108 participants in the organic village, compared to only 64 in 2014.

Marañon noted that the crowd attendance at the festival has been growing every year, which would require expanding the festival area to accommodate more people.

The governor said  he is open to all suggestions – solicited or unsolicited – to improve the Panaad festival in the coming years.

Panaad is a thanksgiving celebration and an exhibition of the best of Negros Occidental. It brings together all Negros Occidental towns and cities in themed pavilions that showcase their history, arts and culture, tourism, commerce, trade and industry. Rappler.com
