Anti-drugs chief is new PNP spokesman
Senior Superintendent Bartolome Confesor Tobias replaces Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., who is now chief of the PNP's Directorate for Intelligence

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday, April 27, announced the appointment of its 3rd spokesman for 2015.

Former PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) chief Senior Superintendent Bartolome Confesor Tobias will be taking over as the new mouthpiece of the 150,000-strong police force, replacing Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., who is now the chief of the Directorate for Intelligence.

Tobias is the third officer to step in as chief of the PNP’s Public Information Office.

2015 began with Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor as the PNP’s PIO chief but he was replaced late January, following the biggest crisis to hit the police force, the botched “Oplan Exodus.”

Mayor and Cerbo switched positions, Mayor taking over Cerbo’s post then as the DI’s deputy chief. Cerbo, meanwhile was named PIO chief – a position he held up until late 2013.
