Father and son electrocuted to death in Cagayan

MANILA, Philippines – At least two were killed in Aparri town in Cagayan hours before Typhoon Dodong (international codename Noul) made landfall in the northeastern tip of the province Sunday afternoon, May 10.

According to a police report from the province, a father and his son died on Sunday at around 11:30 a.m. after getting electrocuted while fixing their house in preparation for the typhoon.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has not yet officialy released the names of the victims as of Sunday night. According to the NDRRMC’s Management of the Dead and Missing Cluster (MDMC) head Allan Tabell, the proper handling of the dead during disasters involves confirmation, verification, and validation. 

The Department of Health (DOH) has already dispatched a team to determine whether the death is typhoon-related, Tabell said.

Typhoon Dodong battered the region with moderate to heavy rain and strong winds on Sunday. It weakened as it moved towards Balintang channel, the state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 11 pm update. – Rappler.com
