Initially, 9 persons from Dauis were hospitalized after showing signs of being poisoned after eating seafood on Wednesday, June 24, according to a report on dyAB-AM radio.

On Thursday, 3 other persons from Tagbilaran City were brought to hospital for similar symptoms, the regional office of the Department of Health also reported. DOH-VII officials will be in Tagbilaran on Friday to check on the incidents.

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Central Visayas based in Cebu City has issued a public warning against eating crustaceans and other seafood in Tagbilaran and Dauis in Bohol following the reported cases. The BFAR officials have said that waters off Tagbilaran and Dauis are positive of red tide.
