BAGUIO, Philippines - Baguio is at the center of the political campaign whirlpool Sunday, March 17, as both President Benigno Aquino III and Vice President Jejomar Binay will be strutting their stuff here. Both will be together at Fort del Pilar early today, March 16, for the Philippine Military Academy as PNoy will be handing the Presidential Saber to PMA valedictorian Cadet 1st Class Jestony Arman Lanaja while Binay would be handing the vice-presidential saber to Salutatorian to Cadet 1st Class Maryam Balais who happens to be from nearby La Trinidad.

Then the two top officials of the land will go their own way in the afternoon. Binay would be holding the UNA rally at Baguio Convention Center (BCC). Confirmed to attend the rally are senatorial aspirants Nancy Binay, Jackie Enrile and JV Ejercito. Joining them are Baguio Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Rep Bernardo Vergara. UNA initially reserved People's Park but opted for BCC.

PNoy will be joining the proclamation rally of the LP – National People’s Coalition - Independent Candidates at Melvin Jones Grandstand, Burnham Park at about 2 pm. Attending the PNoy rally are Benguet Congressman Ronald Cosalan, Mark Go (Baguio’s congressional candidate) and Jerome Selmo, Benguet gubernatorial candidate.

Thanksgiving dances will commence the program with Baguio mayoral candidate Jose Molintas, La Trinidad Mayor Gregorio Abalos, Jr.; Mankayan Mayor Materno Luspian; Sablan Mayor Arthur Baldo; Kabayan Mayor Faustino Aquisan; Bokod Mayor Mauricio Macay; Tublay Mayor Ruben Paoad; and Bakun Mayor Marcelo Contada joining the dance.

Highlight will be the installation of PNoy as Honorary Ibaloi by Councilor Cosalan. About ten pigs are expected to be sacrificed for the installation.

Expected to join the proclamation rally with PNoy are senatorial candidates Sonny Angara, Bam Aquino, Jamby Madrigal, Ramon Magsaysay, Jr, Koko Pimentel, Grace Poe, and Risa Hontiveros' representative. - Rappler.com
