The incident is considered election-related but police are still investigating in Maguindanao, an electoral hotspot for violence

COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A school district supervisor was shot dead in Maguindanao on Sunday, May 12 in a likely elections-related incident on the eve of the mid-term vote,  police said.

Salipada K. Pendatun police chief Haron Macabanding identified the victim as Abas Minsu. Minsu’s nephew was injured and brought to a hospital in nearby Tacurong, where he remains in critical condition.

The victims were riding on a motorcycle on their way home to Tacurong from Bai Tambabai National High School at around 11.20 am, when they were fired at by unidentified gunmen riding in tandem on another motorcyle.

“We are looking all angles to find out what could be the motive behind, for now we are zeroing  the incident as election-related,” Macabanding said.
