Consolacion Cabatik is 90 years old - and one of the oldest Filipino voters who cast a vote on Monday

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – Consolacion Cabatik is 90 years old – and probably one of the oldest Filipino who cast a vote on Monday, May 13.

She braved joining the packed crowd at the Alaminos Central School. Rappler found her as she exited the polilng precinct. With her daughter assisting her, she slowly made her way out of the crowd and unsteadily climbed down the steps.

Consolacion was frail but she didn’t mind the stress that the heat and the crowd must be putting on her body. She looked happy.

We asked her why but she couldn’t hear us. Her daughter shouted it on her ears.

“Basta ako hindi ako mahirapan. Tulong ko ito sa anak ko,” she said. She was beaming.

Consolacion’s daughter – the same one holding her – is running for councilor in Alaminos City.

These are races where candidates could win or lose by a matter of one vote.

Consolacion is probably the oldest voter on Monday. It is also a vote filled with love. – Rappler.com
